The Meaning of Easter To Me

Well Lent has passed and so has Good Friday and the Blessed Easter Sunday.

While I am not a Catholic nor a Christian, (my wife and daughter are though), the Station of the Cross or also known as the Passion of Christ (made popular by the movie The Passion of the Christ) still bears meaning for me. For those who are Christians, please note that my opinion is not meant to be disrespectful of anyone. If it does offend anyone, I plea for forgiveness beforehand.

To me the Passion of Christ is the culmination of Jesus's life and his teaching. It is the highlight of his life. The destiny to which Christ was born on this Earth to effect. It captures the excruciating suffering Jesus endures to wash away the Sins of his loved ones ... all of mankind. Where any other man would waver and yield, he didn't. For that strength alone, one should at the very least respect Jesus (be he man or Son of God) if not love him for it.

While some would argue that such an event never occurred, I answer you this, "If it didn't occur, then it is a parable to teach mankind how one should live and die. But then, what if it actually did happen? What does that mean to all of us?"

You may then ask me, why do I not convert, if I feel the way I do? To that I would respond such, "While I was born a Hindu and shall likely die a Hindu, to me Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and all other religions that guides us along the path of love, understanding and enlightenment are not mutually exclusive. They are one and the same".

Just as one shirt does not fit us all, no one religion caters to all souls as each soul is at different stage of enlightenment. However, just as the function of a shirt is to keep our body warm, the function of religion or faith as others may call it is to guide our soul to perfection (or salvation as others may call it).
